Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska and K-9 are a fire investigation accelerant detection team with the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office. K-9 Tanya, a 2½ year old black Labrador retriever, and Deputy Galaska were trained during a 5 week class in Alfred, Maine by Maine Specialty Dogs and certified as a team by the Maine State Police in April/May 2014. K-9 Tanya is specially trained to sniff out ignitable liquids that may be used to start or spread a fire. Deputy Galaska and K-9 Tanya will also perform demonstrations for schools and other organizations. As a team, Deputy Galaska and K-9 Tanya are proud to serve the entire state of Delaware.
