Reduced Ignition Propensity Cigarette Program



Effective on January 1, 2009, the State of Delaware requires by law that any and all cigarettes sold in the State of Delaware be reduced ignition propensity cigarettes.

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is responsible to administer and enforce this statute. Cigarettes offered for sale in this State shall be required to be registered with the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Each and every cigarette brand style is required to be tested and certified under the provisions of Title 16 of the Delaware Code, 71 A.

A fee of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) for each brand style of cigarette is required. Checks or money orders made payable to the State of Delaware are the only accepted form of payment.
